What is Wide Alive?
Overview
While you may want to frame this experience as “a course”, or “a learning cohort”, it may be best to describe this as an “community of belonging & practice”. This will be an experience that supports participants with practical steps to live with vitality, compassion, presence, and hope - to live Wide Alive, even when it’s difficult.
This is not a self-help program, but a “self-hope” experience. It isn’t a course to fix yourself, but to find yourself, and live with aliveness in whatever circumstance you find yourself in.
Christa will serve not simply as guide, but as a fellow pilgrim too.
Over the course of six months (January - June), we will meet together online eleven times in total - once in January, twice per month from February through May, and then one final time in early June. And, you’ll receive two additional emails per month from Christa with inspiration, encouragement, tangible spiritual practices to use in real-time, and additional curated resources.
Each session will be 90 minutes (7:30pm-9:00pm EST) over Zoom. Each gathering will include contemplative practice, some teaching from Christa, a soul-full exercise you’ll be guided in, and some breakout time with each other, and group discussion. They will be recorded in case you need to miss it.
While there is no “homework”, participants will be encouraged to reflect on some of the experiences and resources in between the two online sessions.

Curriculum
There are four key components that will guide the development of all the ideas we’ll discuss.
Compassionate Growth: transformation is the engine of life, and we are made for change. We’ll embrace it while being gentle with ourselves!
Whole-Souled: prioritizing the body, heart, mind, and spirit as equally important in being Wide Alive.
Natural Rhythms: paying attention and practicing with the seasons of nature: Winter, Spring & Summer
Loving Well: the goal of Wide Alive is not to simply slow down, or wake up to your life. The goal is to love well - yourself, others, the Divine, and the natural world.
Christa will be adjusting the core curriculum based on who’s a part of this, and what is happening in the world around us.

Gathering Details
The online gatherings will be on Wednesday evenings between 7:30pm - 9:00pm EST. Even though full participation is encouraged, people are able to register knowing they can miss three of the eleven gatherings if needed.

What’s included:
Eleven sessions online (January - June), with a small community of like-minded (and hearted!) people. These sessions are only recorded and shared with those who can’t make it on a particular evening. Participants are able to miss 2 of the 11 sessions.

*Note: If you are currently in personal spiritual direction sessions with Christa and you want to put those on pause during the 6 months, this is perfect option. However, if you are wanting to add personal spiritual direction with Christa to complement the Wide Alive experience, you will be prioritized in Christa’s schedule, whether you are currently meeting with her, or will begin for the first time.
Additional FAQs
Is this a “Christian” program?
No, and yes. No, Wide Alive is not specifically a “Christian” program, but it is one that prioritizes the inner life of participants. Many people connected to SoulPlay, including Christa herself, have had (or continue to have) roots in the Christian tradition. It would be impossible to address questions and have conversations about spirituality, and the soul, without occasionally acknowledging the Christian framework that we are drawing from - whether people are actively deconstructing this framework or not.
For some, this group will represent the most significant “spiritual community” they have. For others, this will serve as a compliment that amplifies their existing connections.
Who is invited to this?
Wide Alive is available to anyone who resonates with the ideas presented here. If you have any questions about whether this is going to be a good fit, don’t hesitate to contact Christa.
Capacity: The 2024 Cohort will cap at 25 participants.
I participated in a Soul Circle. How is this different?
In many ways, Wide Alive is a response to the feedback received from those who enjoyed participating in Soul Circles. Wide Alive will have much more of a sharing/community focus, with new ideas taught, all while preserving the best parts, including the contemplative slow-down practices, and the opportunity to tune inwards and listen to your soul.
You do not need to have participated in a Soul Circle to enjoy Wide Alive.
